Profile

Malcolm Adediran outdoors

Malcolm Adediran was born into a cross-cultural family—an American father and a Nigerian mother. He grew up and was educated in the United States while remaining closely attentive, through his mother’s heritage, to Africa’s economic development and to emerging and capital markets in Nigeria in particular.

He is a senior financial specialist with more than 40 years of global investment experience. After graduating from leading U.S. institutions, he held core roles in investment, asset management, and risk control at major international firms, building deep traditional finance practice.

As cryptocurrency markets rose, he moved into digital-asset investing, working with leading crypto funds and blockchain investment institutions. In 2025 he stepped away from his professional post, having achieved financial independence. He now plans to return to Nigeria to build a personal investment-sharing platform and advisory practice—drawing on experience across TradFi and crypto to offer macro insight, asset-allocation strategy, and practical guidance so more investors can navigate global financial change.

Five chapters

Blackstone → BlackRock → Citibank → independent advisory → fintech strategy.

  1. 1990

    Stage I · Ages 29–34

    Blackstone · Senior Financial Analyst

Building on prior analysis experience and the MBA, took on greater responsibility in market research and investment decision-making. Focus areas included global capital flows, international financial markets, emerging-market opportunities, cross-border asset allocation, equity and fixed-income markets, and institutional portfolio risk management. Over time, work shifted from data analysis toward investment strategy and participation in large projects and international allocation decisions.

  2. 1995

    Stage II · Ages 34–46

BlackRock · Portfolio Manager → Senior Portfolio Manager

A defining asset-management chapter. Moved from market research into direct portfolio management—initially equities and bonds, later as Senior Portfolio Manager. Mandates spanned U.S. and global equities, emerging-market equities, government and corporate bonds, fund products, alternatives, FX, and derivatives. In the later years of this period, managed multi-asset portfolios exceeding USD 100 million. This stage cemented a systematic global asset-allocation framework.

  3. 2007

    Stage III · Ages 46–56

    Citibank · Senior Investment Manager

Brought institutional investing experience into high-net-worth, family-office, and institutional client work. Responsibilities included global asset allocation, portfolio strategy, wealth management for HNW clients, institutional investment solutions, market-cycle judgment, cross-market opportunity research, and investment risk control. Lived through the 2008 global financial crisis, QE cycles in the U.S. and Europe, the European debt crisis, a long equity bull market, and repeated capital-flow cycles in emerging markets—further refining risk frameworks and a mature cycle-investing approach.

  4. 2017

    Stage IV · Ages 56–60

Independent Investment Advisor · Global Asset Allocation Specialist

After leaving large traditional institutions, practiced as an independent investment specialist. Clients increasingly included high-net-worth investors, family offices, private wealth clients, corporate investors, and international institutions. Research expanded from equities, funds, and bonds into digital assets, blockchain, fintech, quantitative investing, and AI-driven financial analysis—a pivot from Wall Street portfolio manager to new-finance specialist.

  5. 2022

    Stage V · Ages 60–65 · Present

Fintech Project Founder · Chief Investment Strategy Expert

Combined decades of traditional investment practice with AI, blockchain, and big-data technology. Current focus: artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital assets, quantitative trading, big-data financial analysis, algorithmic trading, intelligent risk control, and global asset allocation. Leads finance and technology teams building proprietary investment-analysis software—uniting traditional finance theory, AI algorithms, big-data analysis, and market-behavior research to improve trend judgment, portfolio management, and risk identification. Attention also turns to African emerging markets, especially Nigeria’s capital markets and digital-finance opportunity.
